You must meet standard ALX eligibility requirements and foundational knowledge and experience in Back-End development are required for participation in this programme. You should be able to dedicate up to 30 hours per week and have access to a laptop or desktop with stable internet.
The selection process involves several assessments that applicants must complete to be considered for the programme. These include:
1. Complete an English assessment
2.Take a combined logical reasoning and numerical aptitude test
3.Pass Technical assessment focused on Back-End knowledge
4.Submit a values and motivation essay (focused on grit and resilience)
5.Write a programme sponsorship essay
6.Applicants who successfully complete and pass all assessments will be accepted into the programme.
The ALX Back-End programme covers foundational concepts, while ProDev dives into advanced Back-End skills. ALX Back-End culminates in a capstone project, whereas ProDev focuses on building a portfolio of real-world projects, equipping learners with job-ready skills.
ProDev is designed for those ready to enter the workforce with practical, industry-relevant experience.
Applicants are advised to submit only one application per programme at a time. If you are currently enrolled in another programme, your application will be disqualified.
While we appreciate your dedication to picking up the challenge, this programme is not beginner friendly. However, you can take our Back-End Engineering programme, which will prepare you for this programme.
You will receive support from peers who share equal passion as yourself as well as our senior technical mentors will be your guide through the programme. In addition to this, you will have masterclasses helping you understand the practical implications of your training and enhance your readiness for the industry.
Yes, upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a certificate.
If you have graduated from the ALX Front-End, Back-End, or Introduction to Software Engineering programmes Cohort 1 (Start date Oct 2023) and completed the Professional Foundations module, you will not need to repeat it. You will begin directly with the technical software development component of this programme.
